Abigail and Ryan: A Blissful Summer Afternoon

Updated: Oct 18, 2021

There’s nothing like a summertime wedding in the Rocky Mountains. Maybe it’s the cool, crisp air, or the bright strips of floral color gracing the near vertical mountain slopes, or the friendly mountain villages with world class restaurants and hiking.

We were excited to work with Abigail and Ryan for this project in Vail, Colorado, as we are based out of Vail and are always pleased to commit to a project locally wherein we know the landscape so well.

We arrived that morning to where Abigail was getting ready at her mother Margerie's residence in Vail. An otherwise cloudless morning, we arrived and commenced classical “getting ready shots” and gathered as many details behind the lens we could to a chirping audience of humming birds feeding.

We quickly moved to our venue for setup, Larkspur Restaurant in Vail Village and prepared for the ceremony with the Gore Mountain Range perfectly framed behind the flower laden arbor followed by wonder food from Larkspur kitchen.

One of our favorite places for a First Look in Vail is at the Betty Ford Botanical Gardens. We found some excellent moments in this intimate garden enclave next to the Gore Creek in Vail. There are so many great ways to use the variety of flowers, landscape art and structures, and bridges and streams to create stunning outdoor footage.

We concluded that night with the obligatory stroll to a trail area east of the Vail Village to capture drone shots and more portraiture with the still photographer.

We concluded our shoot that evening just as the warmth had evacuated the mountain air behind the western horizon with the sun. It was a great day from start to finish with Abigail and Ryan and we were excited to have another gorgeous couple to provide a personalized wedding film to from their home in the Vail Valley.
